Whether you’re a beginner or an award winner there is always something new to learn. Our panel of cosplay experts will give you practical, hands-on useful tips and demonstrations for costuming, props, wig-work, convention etiquette and all points west.

Teams from around NZ pit their wit and knowledge against each other to see who the geekiest group are in a fast-paced quiz-show. Questions range from classic gaming consoles to the latest gashapon on the market.

3.00pm – Signing session in the main area with Johnny Bosch
Outside events, including COSPLAY CHESS, Live action chess featuring some of your favourite anime characters and DANCE GATHERINGS, Have you been practicing you’re Lucky Star or do you just have an urge to bust out some Caramelldansen? Gatherings for these and other popular anime dances are being held outside the event so come and join in or watch.

The ultimate anime question – subs or dubs? The pros and cons of each are discussed and polls held. If there is a particular stream of boos for either, take the mic and try to demonstrate a better role. Come along and voice your opinion in this interactive panel.
11.30am – “AMV Screening”
View the finest animation music videos from creators around the globe. Be inspired and get introduced to varied anime and music selections at the same time.

2.00pm - "Guess the Anime Tune"
A fun and intriguing event providing a range of difficulties for the casual to hardcore anime fan. Songs span from the 1970s to the most recent hit theme songs - come along and test your knowledge.
3.00pm - “Anime Karaoke”
Bash out hit anime tracks in style with our exclusive Anime Karaoke. We will have a selection of the classics and the new, the English and the Japanese along with the occasional ‘geek favourite’. If you wish to take part please come to the sign-up area an hour beforehand to select your song. Sing alone or with a group to showcase your talent or lack thereof! And remember: if you’re not holding a mic it doesn’t mean you can’t sing along.

General event activities held either outside or in the main event corridor
“Extreme Gundam Making”
Build your own custom-design, bipedal, lazar-chargin’ fighting robot as seen in popular anime such as Gundam 00 and Neon Genesis Evangelion. Creations will be made under time-limit from trusty cardboard boxes provided to you. If you’re not one of our base-models or builders, come along and witness these creations being built or listen in to our special running commentary and history of the Gundam. Creations will then be judged – by you, our audience – so builders must be able to justify, explain (and bonus points for demonstrating) the features they have invented.
“Scavenger Hunt”
Track those pesky anime characters throughout the convention for plunder! If you’re up to the challenge, grab a camera or team up with someone with a camera, pick up a sheet of who (or what) you’re tracking down and get on the case. When you’ve spotted everything on the list, head back to where you picked up the quest brief with photos of the character, location, prop or wild goose that we have sent you to discover and (if successful and quick), claim your reward. Please note: you will need a digital camera to join in the fun. Stay tuned for where lists can be retrieved and reclaimed and at what times.
